The Process Engineer works as part of the Manufacturing Engineering team and is responsible for the delivery of projects through the cell assembly line. The role works directly with other functions and project teams and develops and implements processes to scale up the capability of a wide range of cell assembling technologies. The Process Engineer works as part of a highly skilled team of Engineers and Scientists and provides feasible solutions for various cell assembly problems and is responsible for any root cause analysis.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
* Industrialisation of new equipment. Modification and continuous improvement of existing equipment; ensuring manufacturing processes remain technology-relevant.
* Project management, management of stakeholder expectations, and technical reporting.
* Customer facing - direct and indirect. Guiding, steering, and challenging expectations.
* Process Engineering Technology owner. Analyzing data and driving process performance; validation and capability studies for campaign use.
* Hands-on approach to working. Directly supporting plant, operational, and quality teams with practical and theoretical guidance and instruction.
* Work independently and prioritize daily activities with minimal instruction.
* Generate and maintain documentation – Control Plans, PFMEAs, SWIs, Manufacturing Bill of Materials, and Stage Drawings.
* Market research to keep abreast of battery industry progression.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* Previous proven experience of working with a team of Engineers.
* Hands-on engineer with demonstrable knowledge of automation, mechanical, and controls.
* Confident, assertive, and self-assured.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical machine data.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD.
* Proficiency in Creo.
* Experience in battery manufacturing.
Personal attributes:
* A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience within a Manufacturing or Process Engineering role within automotive, Tier 1 or Tier 2 manufacturing.
* Degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Manufacturing Engineering desired.
* Excellent reporting skills verbally and using software (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential).
* Flexibility to split role between shop floor and office environments, and adapt to changes in daily pace.
* A strong interest in energy storage technology and openness to moving into a brand-new industry.
* Significant experience within a similar process engineering role within a high-speed manufacturing environment – automotive industry experience is of particular interest.
* Exceptional appreciation for health, safety, and quality control procedures.
* Resilient and enthusiastic, able to deliver results under pressure.
* Exposure to data acquisition equipment and PLC controls or other automated systems is strongly desired.
