Working within the High Secure Stores Department that is inclusive of the Central Stores, Patients Possessions, Linen bank, Food Stores as required. To also drive Porters vehicles and to collect and deliver goods as requested, moving them manually, or with the appropriate vehicles or manual handling equipment and procedures. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of a quality storage provision for High Secure Services, which will include maintaining an accurate record of the storage, receipt and distribution of goods for Secure Division. Duties will include receipting all goods received for Secure Division as well as the processing and checking compliance with the security requirements required for Secure Division areas including Low, Medium and High Secure. To be accountable for reporting short, damaged or discrepant deliveries, liaising with the supplier, the Purchasing Department and end user. Making necessary records and arranging when necessary replacement and/additional items to complete deliveries, which may also involve the delivery of goods to the Secure Division. To complete x-raying and/or security checks, in line with Tilt recommendations, of all goods to be delivered in to the Secure Area of Ashworth Hospital. Check, note and raise awareness of any illegal or restricted items, such as weapons, explosives, drugs etc, with line manager Investigate any suspicious items in line with departmental or Trust procedures To take personal responsibility for the completion of all duties in a safe and efficient manner and to maintain regular contact with line Manager. To undertake filing and general administration routines associated with the department. To work unsupervised and to use your own initiative in line with service requirements. The post holder will also have a working knowledge of Health and Safety, Fire procedure as well as disturbance, escape and hostage procedures. Drive a forklift truck (If Qualified) and operate mechanical handling equipment, as trained. Understand risk management for equipment employed within the department and update training as necessary. To comply with all security and fire procedures appertaining to the designated workplace To maintain a thorough working knowledge and practice of policies and procedures associated with the Central Stores. To report all defects to equipment and the environment to your line Manager. Any other duties that may be reasonably expected and that are commensurate with the grade. A requirement to have multidiscipline, cross functional and flexible approach regarding the requirement to work in other areas as an FM Assistant within the Secure Division as required in liaison with the Facilities Operations Manager Many or all of the FM assistants will be expected to drive designated hospital vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes all suitably qualified FMA staff can be required to drive vehicles as the course of their duties dictates. This may include Electric vehicles and forklifts used on site The majority of work requires physical effort and Manual Handling Training is provided, and such training is to be applied diligently in all work. Post holders may use various machines and physical aids in their task, and will have to take on training and demonstrate ability to comply with the training.
