Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Service Coordinator to join our Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Sheffield Children's Hospital. The unit is based on our main hospital site and is one of just 13 Cystic Fibrosis specialist centres in the UK, providing a service for children up to the age of 16 from Sheffield and beyond.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and professional healthcare services coordinator on a permanent basis to work with the Cystic Fibrosis team. There are 2 posts available, each post being 22.5 hours (there is some flexibility around hours for the right candidate).
You will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients, and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. You will share the trust values and be committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Main duties of the job
1. Coordinate healthcare services to ensure patient care and treatment is organised effectively within the specialty area, including all patient administration, database management, and treatment scheduling to support the Cystic Fibrosis team.
2. Coordinate appointments and admissions and maintain treatment schedules for patients ensuring adherence to clinical plans outlined by healthcare professionals.
3. Greet all visitors to reception and deal with enquiries, including taking messages and relaying them to other members of the team.
4. Maintain patient treatment schedules and medication databases to ensure accurate recording of medication types, dosages, and frequencies.
5. Liaise with multiple clinical areas to coordinate patient care, services, and treatments ensuring a seamless patient experience and facilitating appointment scheduling.
6. Be the contact for healthcare professionals and patients within the specified medical specialties, assessing calls and enquiries, including liaison with external bodies such as pharmaceutical representatives, labs, general practitioners, and charities.
7. Input and maintain internal databases related to investigation results and patient data, ensuring data accuracy and availability for clinical use.
8. Ensure all work is well-presented and accurate, including completion of booking forms and mailing of appointment letters.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent
Experience
* Administrative experience using office systems
* An understanding of processes that ensure confidentiality is maintained and Data Protection requirements are adhered to.
* Experience of data collection and input
* Experience of producing reports from database systems
* Experience of working in a healthcare or social care environment
Knowledge and Skills
* Organised with the ability to coordinate multiple pieces of work at the same time.
