Personal Assistants / befrienders / enablers required to support and motivate a young man who has Down’s Syndrome & Autism.

Location: He lives in the Barnard Castle area but travels widely to access daytime activities.
Hours/Wages: We are looking for Support Workers to join a team to work a minimum of 12 hours initially, spread over 2 shifts a week. Average shift hours are from 9am to 5pm or 5pm until 10pm. Times and days are negotiable but may involve occasional weekends, evenings, and sleepovers to cover for holidays and sickness. Further hours/shifts may be available in the future.
Rate of pay: £12.00 per hour, with holiday pay and mileage allowance.
Duties: We are looking for friendly people who have energy, resourcefulness, and an understanding of Autism. The role involves companionship and support to enable a young man to do some of the things he enjoys - swimming, walking, cycling, music, art & drama workshops, theatre, films, disco parties, and visiting cafes. Support includes meal preparation, domestic care, personal care, administering medication, and generally keeping him safe.
Additional Qualities/Information: A confident driver with own car is absolutely essential. Experience of Autism and Learning Disability is essential. Ability to work with the established team and adopt established practices and routines.
Successful applicants are required to have an enhanced DBS check, and the cost will be met by the employer.
