We are recruiting an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the PMO team, within Business Improvement and Change who are based from our Doxford Park Sunderland head office. We know how important it is to have a great work-life balance, and we offer hybrid working, a blend of office and home-based working. It is key that you can be in the office part of the working week and be flexible to attend on-site meetings as required, therefore we are unable to accommodate remote working.
Working hours: Mon – Fri 36 hours – 12.30 pm finish on Friday
The PMO is a newly formed centre of excellence for projects within Gentoo, looking to bring best practices to project selection and delivery with a focus on customers, benefits, and outcomes, supported by standardised processes and procedures. The PMO sits within the Business Improvement and Change team, that supports Gentoo’s exciting transformation vision.
The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.
Key responsibilities will include the following:
1. Delivering multiple complex projects that will shape and transform the Group's services for customers and colleagues through the implementation of IT solutions and process redesign.
2. Project/programme mobilisation in line with the Group’s project management framework from discovery to close down.
3. Ongoing programme management, delivery and governance, including planning, risks, change control, using best practice project and change management techniques.
4. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of programme outcomes, providing strong direction and support to the programme team and sponsors, driving outcomes.
5. Support defining the programme's scope and ensuring strategic alignment with the Group's goals, while aiding the refining of the programme roadmap, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
6. Support the PMO team goals and objectives, including development, dissemination and support of Gentoo project programme and portfolio policies, processes and standards.
What we are looking for:
Experience of:
1. Managing a range of complex projects (Business and IT) with multiple workstreams.
2. Providing programme management support for hybrid/multiple system development.
3. Project and programme management, including the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
4. Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Successful delivery of projects on time and achieving project deliverables (time, cost and quality).
6. Delivering successful change management as part of project delivery.
7. Identifying and managing interdependencies between projects.
8. Developing and maintaining a positive teamwork environment.
Knowledge of:
1. Project management approaches (Business and IT) including end-to-end life cycle management, planning, stakeholder management, risk management and governance, communications, and change impact assessment.
2. People change management methodologies, and their practical application.
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
4. Ability to facilitate and influence key stakeholders, both internal and external.
5. Ability to lead and bring together cross-functional teams to achieve a common goal without a direct reporting relationship.
6. Ability to identify and escalate risk, driving discussions with risk owners and within the business as needed.
7. Ability to challenge others and have difficult conversations in a constructive and engaging manner.
8. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of VUCA and BANI frameworks.
