Job Specification: Electrical Design Engineer
Location; Barnsley - Hybrid
Job Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities
* Work as requested by the Controls Division Manager and Electrical Contract Managers.
* Use AutoCAD software to produce electrical designs, including full schematics, GA’s, SLD’s, and cable schedules.
* Work from specifications, overseen by the Electrical Contract Manager, to provide engineered solutions.
* Involvement from enquiry and concept design through to detailed design in the project lifecycle.
* Provide design progress updates and forecasts to the Electrical Contract Manager.
* Attend client and sub-contractor meetings to support the project by providing technical expertise.
* Produce test documents (FAT/SAT) for control panel designs and attend panel manufacturers' premises for Factory Acceptance Testing.
* Keep up to date with the latest developments in electrical engineering.
Job Requirements / Knowledge and Experience
Essential Knowledge and Experience
* An engineering qualification at least to level 4 (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
* At least 5 years of experience in a Design Engineer role.
* Proficient in AutoCAD.
* Working knowledge of BS EN 60204 and BS 7671 to produce compliant designs.
* Minimum of 5 years' relevant design experience (MCC’s, Control Systems, Schematics & Design Documentation).
* Knowledge of industrial control systems, including LV electrical distribution equipment, motor control centres, and PLC control panels. Preferably with Siemens equipment.
* Proficient in producing single-line diagrams, schematics, materials lists (BOM), cable calculations, and cable schedules.
* Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Able to work proactively both individually and as part of a small team.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge and understanding of AC/DC drive systems.
* Experience in producing Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
* Experience in tendering for Control Systems / MCC’s.
* Familiarity with cable design software.
* Familiarity with hydraulic systems.
* Experience with Safety-Related Control Systems to BS EN IEC 62061 or BS EN ISO 13849.
* Experience in installation and commissioning procedures would be an advantage.
