The Senior Director of Strategy will play a central role in shaping and driving our strategic direction. Working alongside the Executive Leadership Team and Board, you’ll drive complex decision-making and help the organisation to prioritise and focus on what matters most. With the chance to influence at a senior level, this role will see you build action-oriented corporate and business strategy that empowers BRC to deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes.
A day in the life of the Senior Director of Strategy will involve:
1. Analysing market trends to shape and challenge strategic direction, ensuring the organisation’s position is clear and impactful.
2. Leading high-level discussions with the CEO and senior team to prioritise initiatives and set actionable, outcome-focused goals.
3. Bringing challenge and support to Directors to develop business unit strategies and service prioritisation and to test their impact.
4. Building external partnerships and proactively managing risks and opportunities to keep the organisation future-focused and adaptable.
5. Leading the Strategy team to design, drive and support delivery of an action-oriented BRC corporate strategy.
6. Encouraging ambition, mature strategic thinking and business acumen and driving new ways of working.
7. Providing strategic direction and focus to our Policy and Advocacy team, to facilitate links and relationships that align into the strategy.
To be a successful Senior Director of Strategy, you’ll need:
1. Proven expertise in strategic decision-making and the ability to influence and inspire confidence across a complex, multifunctional organisation.
2. To be a thought leader with advanced strategic expertise and business acumen and proven experience of developing outcome-based strategies.
3. Extensive experience managing high-performing strategic teams in large organisations - navigating through ambiguity and creating clarity of purpose.
4. To be a clear and proficient strategic thinker, able to identify issues, scope and evaluate options and drive decisions and solutions.
5. Experience and understanding of the complexity of driving charity sector strategy.
6. Strong problem-solving skills, able to break through barriers, address resistance, and navigate cross-functional challenges.
7. Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities, with the capability to engage, collaborate, and build relationships at all levels.
