The role: We are seeking a highly motivated and talented CT /interventional radiographer with an interest in Cardiac imaging to work within our research/clinical facility, the Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and Interventional Centre (AMIIC). The internationally unique centre will include a hybrid unit combining a state of the art ultra-high resolution computed tomography (CT) scanner integrated with a cardiac catheterisation lab / interventional lab. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting prototype technologies (hardware and software),and contribute to cutting-edge scientific projects of the University of Oxford. The radiographer, whilst being an employee of the University of Oxford, will also be involved in the provision of a highly patient orientated, clinical service for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We require someone who will enjoy working in a friendly, cutting edge environment performing advanced procedures (using clinical and research techniques) as part of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, radiographers, nurses and physiologists spanning 'both' University of Oxford and NHS Departments. Due to the expansion of both the clinical and research service, a flexible approach to weekend and evening work will be required. The post holder will ideally be expected to rotate between both the CT and Interventional services allowing for a flexible working team. The Team The AMIIC team consists of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, post-doc scientists, DPhil students, technicians, radiographers, nurses and physiologists, all critically important for the functionality of the team, due to their complementary skills. The team is led by Professor Charalambos Antoniades, and it is supported by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) through the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), the British Heart Foundation and other funding bodies. Responsibilities Undertake without immediate supervision, a full range of CT scan procedures and a wide range of diagnostic interventional and cardiac procedures. To achieve high quality diagnostic images within the department using the established protocols and procedures. Implement in accordance with AMIIC and OUH policies, effective safe working procedures that are reviewed on a periodic basis and to contribute to the development, evaluation and audit of specialist protocols and guidelines. To be responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients and their relatives without direct supervision and to promote a patient centred service. To demonstrate use of effective and compassionate communication skills when dealing with patients and their families and to promote effective collaboration within the multidisciplinary team. To undertake the training of qualified radiographers and to lead by example. To perform intravenous injections when required, subject to satisfactory completion of a recognised course of training. To recruit and consent patients into research studies and access their medical notes and to be actively involved in research studies. To participate in image analysis and data entry. To utilise all resources efficiently and effectively and assist with the maintenance of stock levels for disposables and drugs through reporting, ordering and receiving items according to Local and OUH Trust policy. To be flexible/willing to assist all areas within both the AMIIC Unit and the research group e.g. at times of sickness or increased workload. You will be expected to comply with statutory requirements and both the University's and OUH employment policies whilst at work Maintain the confidentiality about patients, research participants, normal volunteers and staff following the requirements of the GDPR at all times.
