Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Bishop Alexander L.E.A.D Academy The Teaching Assistant Apprentice at Bishop Alexander L.E.A.D Academy supports children's social and academic participation under the direction of the Headteacher. Responsibilities include assisting the class teacher, encouraging independent learning, and promoting positive behavior. The role involves supporting pupils' learning activities, intellectual and emotional development, and well-being, including safeguarding and personal care. Additionally, the apprentice helps manage classroom resources, supports curriculum activities, and fosters effective relationships with colleagues and parents while staying current with professional practices and responsibilities. Key Details: Salary: £10652.09 per annum Working week: Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week, 8:30am - 4:30pm. (Term Time only - 37 Weeks a year) Notice Period: 1 Month Apprenticeship Details - 18 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote). Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider) Job purpose: To work with children as part of a team under the overall direction of the Headteacher who will be responsible for the policy and educational programme and for matters of control and discipline within the National Curriculum Framework. To assist class teachers in maximising the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school. Under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff, to encourage pupils to become more independent learners and help to raise the standard of achievement for all pupils. All activities undertaken by colleagues at this level would be closely monitored by the class teacher or more senior colleagues and the content of learning activities would always be planned by the teacher/more senior staff. To be aware of your responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young persons whom you have contact with during the course of your duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop strategies to support and encourage pupils to move towards independent learning. Use appropriately varied vocabulary to ensure pupils’ understanding Embed effective behaviour management strategies using discipline appropriately and fairly in line with the school’s policy. Deliver interventions in accordance with training given. Foster and encourage positive, effective, nurturing and safe learning environments inspiring pupils to take pride in and learn from their individual achievements. Recognise, adapt and respond to all pupils encompassing SEN/emotional vulnerabilities, for example, use Makaton, visual timetables. Influencing and Managing Relationships: Collaborate closely with teachers to ensure own contribution aligns with the teaching. Ensure regular communication with teachers to provide clarity and consistency of role within lessons. Deliver/lead small group teaching within clearly defined/planned parameters using initiative, sensitivity and understanding. • Build appropriate relationships with colleagues, pupils, parents, and adults. Comply with policy and procedures for sharing confidential information and know when and where to seek advice. Person Specification Required: GCSE pass level or equivalent qualifications in maths/numeracy & English/literacy or significant demonstrable experience in a similar role Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2) or equivalent Awareness of/willingness to train to get knowledge and understanding of the Teaching Assistant’s role in supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues Ability to provide support for planning and delivery of learning activities Skills to support the effective use of ICT in the classroom Knowledge of appropriate behaviour management practices Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures that contribute to the maintenance of pupil safety and security Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols Ability to organise classroom resources and assist with the maintenance of pupil records Ability to use resources and materials including ICT software and equipment Willingness to work with children and young people Experience of working with children or young people with SEND Have an openness to learning and change Have a positive attitude to personal development and training Be able to work in ways that promote equality of opportunity, participation, diversity and responsibility This role is subject to an enhanced DBS May be required to work out of school hours to support the Academy Further Details About the Placement Bishop Alexander L.E.A.D Academy a single form entry school with 220 pupils.
