Barton Moss is a 27 bed Secure Care Centre located in Eccles on the outskirts of Salford, Greater Manchester within easy reach of the M60 and wider motorway network. It has 5 residential units which cares for males between the age of 10-18 years, remanded or sentenced by the criminal Courts. Barton Moss is a registered children home that happens to be secure, it is a truly ‘special’ and unique place to work and opportunities like this are rare. The Centre has a proven track record offering a very high standard of care with modern facilities that encourage young people’s educational development, emotional health and personal wellbeing. The centre has achieved Outstanding and Good Ofsted inspections.
We are looking for a Head of Service to lead exceptional frontline practice, with a commitment to improve the lives and futures of the young people in its care. You will be comfortable taking decisions on behalf of the organization, be involved in strategic decision making within the service and across the wider children’s services community and ensure the service is fulfilling its statutory functions, adheres to Ofsted requirements and Children’s Homes Regulations, and fulfilling the contract of the Youth Custody Service (YCS).
You will be highly motivated, with a strong social care background with the ability to effectively lead and inspire staff through the provision of strong, forward thinking and values bases leadership and management. You will have a high degree of inter-personal skills to work effectively across the service, wider organisations and with external partner agencies.

The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
