We’re looking for an Accountancy Assistant to join our ambitious and dynamic finance team. If you’re passionate about numbers, problem-solving, and making a real impact, this could be the role for you!
The Role
As a key member of the Finance Team, you will:
Support budget monitoring, treasury management, and technical accountancy.
Prepare and reconcile accountancy data to ensure systems are accurate and compliant.
Assist in the completion of the Council’s Annual Statement of Accounts and statutory reporting requirements.
Provide advice to officers at all levels to ensure sound financial management.
Work on diverse tasks like VAT, capital accounting, and grant claims
This role is varied and will give you a broad range of experience across financial disciplines. You’ll collaborate with a team of experts dedicated to maintaining and improving the financial health of the Council.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Essential:
Experience in local government finance or accountancy.
Knowledge of accounting processes, standards, and systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
Desirable:
A professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of VAT requirements in a local authority setting.
Awareness of cash/treasury management practices.
