Role Responsibility

We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead Health and Safety at KCC, playing a pivotal role in setting organisational priorities to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and customers across diverse services and environments.
As the Head of Health and Safety, reporting to the Director of HR & OD, you will provide strategic advice and direction on all health & safety matters. You will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards and foster a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.
You should possess thorough knowledge of H&S and risk management, hold a relevant H&S qualification (such as NEBOSH Diploma, CMIOSH, or equivalent), and demonstrate a good understanding of the challenges faced by large, complex organisations to effectively manage quality standards, health and safety, and risk at all levels. Experience in leading and managing health and safety services and professional advisers is essential. Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading the H&S agenda for KCC, identifying implications of legislative changes and best practices.
2. Providing expert advice on complex technical matters and developing innovative, outcome-focused solutions for emerging health and safety issues.
3. Leading a team of Health and Safety Professionals to deliver our safety agenda and ensure organisational compliance.
