We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic support worker to work within our successful and friendly MyTime Epsom service.
MyTime Epsom is a Day Service Department for adults who have a learning disability and is based in the Epsom area. The service is extremely popular and is open weekdays Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this post is to work with individuals in the planning and delivering of high-quality activities based within the service and the local community. Our record keeping is predominantly computer-based, so the candidate will need to be computer literate.
Job responsibilities
* To promote, support and deliver meaningful activities and promote engagement with activities at all times within the service and in the wider community.
* To communicate effectively and appropriately with people who use The MyTime service.
* To attend to care needs identified within the care plan ensuring respect, privacy, and dignity at all times.
* Help to maintain/develop relationships between individuals and their families/carers/others.
* To maintain the safety of people at all times, alerting senior staff to any identified risks whether perceived or actual.
* To work with individuals in a respectful and person-centred way.
* Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with line manager as part of the personal development planning process.
* To contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and Trust policies and to contribute to the prevention and control of health care associated infection by adhering to Trust policies and guidelines.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Care Certificate or willing to complete.
Communication / Relationship
* Good spoken and written English.
* Ability to carry out responsibilities of a co-key worker and contribute to key worker planning.
* Interest in working as part of a team.
IT
* Basic IT skills including the ability to use a computer and Microsoft packages.
Planning / Organisational
* Ability to carry out allocated tasks independently.
* Ability to carry out tasks as a co-keyworker contributing to care planning.
Physical effort
* Support people who use our service in carrying out activities of everyday living including the delivery of personal care.
* To drive trust transport in line with service needs.
