Job summary
Antelope House is a modern purpose-built acute mental health inpatient and psychiatric intensive care unit. There are 4 inpatient wards, covering male and female acute beds and a male psychiatric intensive care unit. The Acute and Crisis Psychology Service also works within the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) who support individuals in the community who are currently in need of intensive support due to their mental health.
We offer high quality, recovery focused care to adults with a range of mental health needs across inpatient and crisis services. We work transdiagnostically with a range of presentations, including psychosis, trauma and affective and relational difficulties. We have worked hard to embed the Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC) approach into the service and this is our primary psychological model underpinning our work. CCC is a psychology-led intervention which enables multi-professional colleagues to offer support to patients in crisis, with a focus on collaborative care planning.
The post-holder will be part of a cohesive team with a strong focus on quality improvement and service development, and we hope to find someone who shares this drive and enthusiasm. The role can be challenging, but rewarding, and our team holds values around transparency, empathy and humour to create a supportive dynamic within the service.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Associate in Psychology will be required to support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions, as a semi-autonomous practitioner under the supervision of a more senior psychologist.
A key part of the role will be in supporting the development and implementation of our group programme. There will be opportunities for direct work with service users within individual and group settings, and you will contribute to the screening and prioritisation of referrals. You will receive weekly clinical supervision from a qualified psychologist.
You will work independently according to an agreed plan and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. You will provide a specialist mental health service for patients under the Acute and Crisis Pathway. You will also work to provide consultation, supervision, training and service development within the scope of your CAP role.
