This post provides a range of practical and educational opportunities. The post holder will develop a variety of generic and core specialist competencies that focus upon the appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes required in order to ensure high quality & safe care is experienced by every patient., Structure history taking and examination interviews so that the patient (carer)'s concerns, expectations and understanding can be identified.
Demonstrate safe prescribing by taking accurate drug histories, using the BNF and other sources to access information and can prescribe a range of drugs including oxygen, fluids, blood products and show awareness of drug interactions and allergic reactions.
Manage information effectively so as to keep accurate, legible signed notes and documentation.
Manage time effectively, prioritise workload and make appropriate decisions, calling for help when behind.
Show an awareness of appropriate clinical governance issues ensuring that steps are taken to minimise infection.
Effectively manage patients at the interface of different specialties including that of primary care, imaging and laboratory specialties by demonstrating an understanding of the challenges of providing optimum care within primary care and ensuring referral and discharge information to primary care staff.
