As we scale, we need a Finance and Operations Manager who will play a crucial role in managing our financial health while also driving business efficiency. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to broaden their experience in finance and operations within a fast-paced startup. We will expect you to be very strong in finance, and we can support you in developing expertise in operations, customer success, and business processes. The role has clear promotion routes into Head of Finance, Head of Operations, or Head of Customer Success depending on your career aspirations. The Role This is a finance-first role with additional exposure to operations and business management. You will be responsible for financial oversight, process improvements, and supporting the broader business operations. Key Responsibilities Finance & Business Management (Primary Focus) Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Prepare and review monthly management accounts, providing analysis against budget and KPIs. Manage customer contracts, invoicing, credit control, and debt collection. Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and reporting. Oversee payroll, supplier payments, and prepayments/accruals. Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors. Own financial systems and reporting tools, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Operational Efficiency & Business Process Improvement Identify and implement business process improvements to streamline operations. Work with leadership to drive OKRs (Objectives & Key Results) across teams. Automate and improve finance and operational workflows, particularly in the order-to-cash cycle. Legal, Customer Success & Account Management (Secondary Focus) Support contract management and legal compliance within finance and operations. Collaborate with the customer success team to ensure efficient account management. Work cross-functionally to improve customer onboarding, billing, and retention processes. What We’re Looking For We are looking for a qualified accountant who is eager to take on a broader business role in a growing startup. You must be financially strong and have a problem-solving mindset, with a willingness to learn operational and strategic business functions. Essential Skills & Experience Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) – this is a must. 3-5 Years Experience working in a finance function within an SME, startup, or high-growth company. Strong financial management, reporting, and forecasting skills. Ability to implement process improvements and enhance financial operations. Excellent commercial awareness, with an ability to translate numbers into business insights. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Proficiency in Xero, Excel, and other finance tools. Confident communicator, comfortable working with leadership teams and external stakeholders. Desirable (Nice to Have, but Not Essential) Experience in operational strategy, OKRs, or business efficiency projects. Experience working in a tech, SaaS, or education business. You’ll need the ability to travel to our Glasgow office four times per annum. Holiday : Allowance of 33 days (including bank holidays) Flexibility: We are currently operating under a 9 day fortnight work pattern so that we have every second Friday off.
