The role
We are looking for an Health & Safety Manager to lead and be responsible for all strategic guidance to the business on all Health, Safety and Environmental matters and be accountable for all measurement, management and implementation of Gateway Health, Safety and Environmental Policies. The post holder will ensure effective management and compliance systems to meet Legislation and Best Practice across all areas of the business.
Accountabilities
Your accountabilities will include but not limited to:
Lead on a business wide health, safety, and wellbeing review, including a comprehensive desktop and face to face exercise and develop an improvement plan with clear objectives
Develop and lead the annual corporate Health, Wellbeing and Safety Policy and Statement review and Health Wellbeing & Safety business plan, ensuring colleagues understand their duties in relation to the Policy
Develop and review Corporate risk assessments and safety systems within the workplace, supporting managers to prepare risk assessments and safety systems to ensure safe and compliance is maintained
Ensure knowledge and learning is kept up to date identifying and responding to changes in Legislation and Best Practice, updating business Policy and procedures as required
Determine and deliver Health and Safety training requirements and develop the training needs assessment to ensure compliance with Legislation, Statutory requirements, and Best Practice, liaise with course suppliers on content relevant to the requirements

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding of Health &Safety, its practical enforcement and wide expertise across all aspects of Health and Safety
Excellent written communication skills and verbal skills, with experience engaging with customers, colleagues, external stakeholders and enforcing bodies
Extensive knowledge of risk assessment and Health & Safety management
Educated to degree / diploma level or suitable alternative professional qualification or commensurate experience
Understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, employee safeguarding, mental health and wellbeing matters and relevant practitioner experience
NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety
IOSH Membership
Experience of maintaining effective Health and Safety Management Systems
Senior management experience with extensive knowledge of Health and Safety expertise
