Job overview
We have an amazing opportunity for one prospective applicant to join a rapidly expanding cardiology department.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative future colleague to join us at this exciting juncture. We are a ‘do it all’ district general cardiology department with 2 cath labs providing coronary intervention and all implantable cardiac electronic devices. Our plan for growth aims to both secure and increase this broad range of investigations and treatments that we currently offer. You would be an integral part in helping shape the delivery of these services.
We have recently had a new Cardiac Investigation Unit built creating a fantastic space for non-invasive cardiac investigations. Our cross-sectional imaging is rapidly developing with a CTCA service running (with 2 new single heart beat scanners due to be installed next year) and have recently commenced a cardiac MRI service with both functional and stress scans now being routinely performed.
We are looking to strengthen our delivery of heart failure, cross sectional imaging, echocardiography and inherited cardiac conditions; however, we have flexibility within the consultant body job plans to accommodate all subspecialty interests other than invasive electrophysiology.
Our vision is to continue to provide high level, modern, consultant led cardiology services via up to date technological advances locally for our rural population.
Interviews for this post will be held April 2025.
Main duties of the job
Salisbury is a wonderful place to live with easy access to the countryside, the coast, fantastic amenities including grammar schools and is 90 minutes from London via train. Our Consultant Cardiology team serves a population of 275,000 and currently has 6 members (5.6 WTE).
What you’ll do:
1. Work within cardiology and your own area of subspecialty interest to influence change and promote service improvement.
2. Provide outpatient cardiac care to our population, especially within your subspecialty interest. This includes supporting primary care especially through the advice and guidance cardiology service.
3. Help provide 24/7 on call inpatient cardiology services thereby supporting the Trust in the delivery of an effective inpatient service to providing a key component to patient flow and length of stay.
4. Mentor and support the junior medical staff and nursing colleagues within the cardiology department so as to create a culture of learning and development, promoting good team relationships.
5. Provide teaching to junior medical staff colleagues to support in their learning and development.

We have about 470 beds and employ over 4000 staff.
We support flexible working and will consider requests for this taking into account the needs of the service.
