This is an exciting time at UHDB as we are developing a surveillance service to deliver a robust surveillance programme, supporting the Trust in meeting the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act: code of practice for the prevention and control of infections.
The Surveillance Team will sit within the Trust Infection Prevention and Control Team. The post will support the Infection Prevention and Control Team in meeting national and local targets to deliver a robust programme of surveillance across the Trust.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join the surveillance team and help shape the surveillance programme. The post holder will work closely with the surveillance specialist practitioner, head and deputy head of infection prevention and control and the Infection control doctor to shape and deliver the surveillance programme implement best practice to reduce infection rates.
The post holder will be required to deputise for the surveillance specialist practitioner as required.
The surveillance team will undertake surveillance across all sites of UHDB, therefore driving is an advantage. There may be a requirement for weekend and bank holiday working.

The post holder will:
Support the Infection Prevention and Control agenda in meeting the Health and Social Care Act: Code of practice for the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections and CQC requirements, supporting the senior leadership team in establishing and maintaining a robust audit and surveillance programme across the Trust.
Assist the Surveillance Specialist practitioner, Head / Deputy Head of Infection Prevention and Control and Infection Control Doctor with any aspect of surveillance / monitoring / auditing as required.
Support the reporting of infection rate data to clinical teams and work in conjunction with teams to identify improvements and support implementation and sustaining of best practice in order to prevent and minimise the risk of healthcare associated infections.
Provide leadership and management support to other team members.
