The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced team and help cover all aspects of manufacturing of timber, sheeted and MDF products from across a range of specialised production lines. We process the raw materials into finished goods of a high standard that are distributed from site directly to our customers. From setting and operating high-tech specialised machinery such as bandsaws, planers, in line cross cutting machinery, automated and manual machinery whilst maintaining the high safety and quality standards that we promote and set. The successful applicant should have the ability to account for materials in/out via our operating systems. In addition to this the successful applicant may be required to operate a front lift and side lifting MHE’s – full onsite training will be provided. What is the job that awaits you? To embrace and promote a strong safety culture whilst maintaining high safety standards and working in accordance to site safety rules and SOP’s. Carry out daily safety checks, risk assessments and audits and have the ability to record and escalate findings to the relevant person(s)/departments Shift Leaders or Managers. Have a good understanding of quality standards and how to rectify any issues that may arise. Quality responsibility in the production environment, ensuring that high standards are maintained throughout production. Documentation control and task checks are completed in line with SOP’s. Operate the barcode and label application machines. Operate MHE to safely move products to and from the production lines, ensuring that the correct materials are picked and the finished goods are stored in the correct locations in our distribution warehouses. To manufacture products in line with CAD drawings ensuring that company and customer requirements are met. Strive to achieve and exceed the company’s performance related metrics. Help keep downtime to a minimum through good setting and utilising your problem solving skills and assisting the engineering team when required. What are we expecting of you? A good understanding of health and safety knowledge. A proactive attitude to learning and implementing new concepts. Be enthusiastic in your approach to work and daily tasks, hold a can do attitude and be generally hardworking and willing to undertake alternative tasks when experiencing downtimes etc. Have the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Have strong I.T skills and confidence using technology. Demonstrate a strong ability to problem solve and come forward with useful solutions that will help improve performance, reduce/minimise downtimes and make improvements. Ability to read and understand data from the sites metrics of Safety, Quality, Availability, Performance and OEE. Have the ability to read and follow a running plan. Hold a keen understanding for Continuous Improvement works. Escalates matters appropriately through the Leadership/Management channels. Amount of flexibility will be required, expecting you to assist in different areas of operations when necessary.
