Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Project Engineering Manager with a background in the nuclear sector to be engaged on a long-term contract basis; this is a unique opportunity to manage engineering teams on a unique and high-profile Nuclear project that involves the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear facilities. The role requires a presence on the client's site in Preston roughly 3 days a week with then 2 days remote working. Key Responsibilities: Lead the engineering function, providing technical oversight and direction to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget. Coordinate design, engineering, and safety teams to develop and deliver project requirements. Work closely with key stakeholders, including contractors, regulatory bodies, and the client's engineering and safety teams. Develop and maintain engineering project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Ensure all engineering activities comply with nuclear safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements. Facilitate design reviews and manage the resolution of technical issues. Identify risks and implement strategies to mitigate impacts to project timelines and deliverables. Report project status to the project manager, senior leadership and stakeholders.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree with a professional engineering chartership (CEng). Holder of relevant Principal Designer (CDM) qualifications. Proven experience as a Project Engineering Manager or similar, ideally within the nuclear or another regulated industry. Strong knowledge of nuclear safety and regulatory frameworks in the UK. Demonstrated expertise in managing complex engineering projects with multidisciplinary teams. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Desirable Skills: Experience in managing nuclear fuel, or complex nuclear projects. Experience managing a team through the full project lifecycle, including design, construction, commissioning and handover. Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM regulations.
