Position Overview We have an opportunity available for a Head of People Services, working in AWE's People & Places function. The Head of People Services is responsible for the strategic leadership of the People Services team, building, managing, and leading a high-performance team to deliver efficient, high-quality People services across the organisation. The service covers the end-to-end employee lifecycle for AWE, from employee and manager queries about processes and system navigation to informal coaching and advice to line managers applying HR policies through to complex employee relations case management. The role ensures the People services processes and interfaces are employee-centric and digitally enabled as part of an agreed service catalogue. Key Responsibilities Ensure the seamless delivery of People services, execution of HR policies and procedures, implementation of best practice, and service excellence demonstrated through key performance indicators and defined service standards that effectively balances strategic thinking and detailed operational delivery in a high pace and demanding service area, using professional judgement to drive decision making in a safety-critical environment. Be an inspirational team manager and leader, ensuring resource and workload is organised effectively; team members have the capability and tools to perform to a high standard; the right support is in place to enable strong team well-being and resilience; and ensuring high performance standards are delivered. Collaborate effectively across the People & Places function and AWE’s Trade Unions, building trusted and credible relationships to drive and influence the effectiveness and consistency of the People Service agenda in keeping with AWE’s People Experience strategy. Develop and implement the People & Places technology roadmap, ensuring People Data architecture is fit for purpose and HRIS capability meets the needs of the business. Deliver a high performance People service, according to defined service standards and key performance indicators. Lead and manage a team of HR professionals ensuring high performance, capability, engagement, and well-being. Ensure fit for purpose people-centric policies, procedures, tools, and resources are implemented and continuously reviewed and maintained to meet business requirements. Desired Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience managing, leading, and motivating a People Services team. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in all aspects of employee relations and case management. Experience using data and analytics to inform decision making, monitoring performance, and identifying areas for improvement. Evidence of anticipating future HR trends and challenges and developing strategies to address them. Experience building strong relationships with trade unions to achieve business outcomes. Evidence of effective design and delivery of a digital roadmap. In-depth knowledge of HR processes and best practices. CIPD Qualification is highly desirable.
