We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practice Nurse Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting the medical staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The purpose of the role is to facilitate high standards of clinical practice in General Practice through the establishment and delivery of structured support to student nursing associates and other relevant learners. A key objective is to promote General Practice as an attractive setting for both nurses and nursing associates, to develop new pathways to enable entry into the specialism. The post holder will facilitate the development of networks to support student nursing associates and registered nursing associates and nurses to develop a community of practice to reduce isolation and vulnerability of their roles.
You should be a Registered Nurse with post-registration experience in General Practice and experience as a clinical educator or a good understanding of pre-registration nurse education. The General Practice Educator (Nursing Associates) will work alongside the training hubs within the Integrated Care System (ICS) to support the following:
* Raise awareness and promote the role of the Nursing Associate (NA) role and the benefits the role can play in PCN’s.
* Undertake clinical teaching and assessment for the Student Nursing Associates (SNA) to support the successful completion of their programme if required and Nursing Associates (NA) to support their continuous professional development.
* Facilitate external placements for student nursing associates to utilise learning during placements and to drive improvements to student experience, increase engagement and improve retention.
* Work with colleagues to develop resources for primary care employers and non-registered staff which will be supported by a clear engagement plan. Resources should also guide non-registered staff on their career pathway.
* Support registered nurses and nursing associates new to the specialism with their development and smooth transition into General Practice.

Responsibilities
* To help drive recruitment of internal and external candidates as SNAs. This will include the support and promotion of the ARRS scheme and apprenticeships to employers.
* Attend relevant employer and sector groups to raise the profile of the SNA and NA role acting as a key resource for colleagues.
* Signpost potential candidates to appropriate information needed to meet the educational requirements for their desired course, such as functional skills (Maths and English) and any additional requirements for university entry criteria.
* Work alongside learners in a coaching and assessing capacity to promote best practice, motivate and inspire staff to achieve their best, and promote a positive learning culture within General Practice.
* Encourage the development of practice placements.
* Evaluate the current preceptorship offer for Nursing Associates and refine or develop the preceptorship model as required.
* Identify and support the training needs for staff new to nursing in general practice, providing individual action learning plans.
* Work closely with colleagues to develop communication networks and close working with practice managers, practice placement areas, and universities supporting the SNA programmes.
* Strive to make a difference to improving the care of our patients; the ability to work autonomously and within a team is essential.
* Collect relevant data and provide reports needed to evaluate the pilot project.
* Develop effective relationships with the SHCPL Team and the practice teams and individuals you are providing support to.
* Keep updated with relevant professional developments related to your role.
* Actively promote general practice as a learning environment and career destination.
* Maintain appropriate professional registration for the post, comply with appropriate professional codes, and work within your scope of professional practice.
Education, Training and Qualifications:
Essential:
* Maths and English GCSE’s (Grade C and above) or equivalent
* NMC Registered General / Adult Nurse
* Post-registration education or qualification relevant to primary care
* General Practice experience.
* Practice Assessor Qualification
Experience:
Essential:
* Current experience in General Practice nursing.
* Experience of teaching, assessing, and supporting learners in practice.
* Experience of initiating or participating in quality improvement of the learning environment.
* Experience of initiating or participating in clinical audit.
Hours: Part-time, Negotiable, Monday to Friday
Salary: From £37,514 per annum (FTE), depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
