We are seeking a highly knowledgeable proficient professional with advanced skills in protecting children from neglect and abuse. You must have a genuine commitment to safeguarding under a whole family strategy. The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children will provide expert advice, safeguarding supervision, intervention, and direction regarding children at risk in line with the Trust safeguarding responsibilities under the Care Act (2014), The Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the Trust Think Family Safeguarding Policy.
Main duties of the job
You must have strong professional leadership, governance, assurance, and workforce skills and will be required to oversee the delivery of care and safeguarding interventions in line with our Trust values. Experience of working within or closely with NHS services is essential alongside being able to demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding children at risk. The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children will also be managerially responsible for the Safeguarding Children Practitioners within the wider Think Family Safeguarding Service. Candidates are required to show evidence of their original certificates for qualifications to the interview panel. The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive and asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is identified as the clinical specialist for Safeguarding Children across the Trust providing operational leadership, advanced knowledge and skills alongside provision of safeguarding advice, support and expertise. The post holder will work closely with the Associate Chief Nurse for Safeguarding, Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults, Named Midwife Safeguarding and Named Nurse for Children in Care and in partnership with Named and Designated Professionals, to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to practice when supporting children and families in need of safeguarding intervention. The post holder will support all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities to safeguard/protect children and young people as set out in national guidance. The post holder will also manage the Safeguarding Children Team as part of the wider Think Family Safeguarding Service. The post holder will deputise for the Associate Chief Nurse for Safeguarding.

* Current NMC Registration
* Specialist Practitioner or equivalent experience in Safeguarding Children and multi-agency working
* Educated to degree level or equivalent academic achievements / or equivalent knowledge and experience
* Completion of post graduate safeguarding course or working towards or willing to undertake.
* Teaching/training qualification e.g., ENB 998/997 or demonstrable experience
* Leadership or Management qualification or evidence of considerable experience in this area
