A great opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Assistant looking to develop their risk and compliance career in a Law Firm, in London.
Under the supervision of the AML Risk and Compliance Manager, the AML Risk and Compliance Assistant will provide assistance to the Firm’s AML Risk and Compliance team and the Director of Risk and Compliance.
The main elements to the role include:
* Collate data from UK client and matter risk assessments
* Prepare agenda and any related documents for AML review meetings
* Draft and distribute minutes for AML or Compliance meetings.
* Carry out World-Check ongoing monitoring in relation to PEPs, sanctions and adverse media
* Review Companies House alerts or ownership and other significant changes for UK based high risk clients
* Collate AML client and matter stats on a weekly basis
* Monitor & update the Firm’s high risk jurisdiction/tax haven lists.
* Prepare emails to partners in relation to UK general corporate matters and client disengagement letters.
* Assist the Director of Risk and Compliance in ensuring employees of the firm complete mandatory Risk & Compliance training
* Assist in the preparation of the London Risk and Compliance budget.
* Be responsible for maintaining the AML Teams Training Schedule, the Firm’s Gift Register and the Firm’s Share Dealing Register
* Booking training for the AML Risk and Compliance Team.
* Assist the Director of Risk and Compliance with the Firm’s obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
* Be responsible for maintaining the AML Risk and Compliance intranet page and the documentation within that page
* Assist the AML Risk and Compliance team with AML and general compliance projects.
* Provide administrative/secretarial support to the Director of Risk and Compliance.
Skills and Experience
* Educated to a degree level or equivalent
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
* Excellent research skills, including via internet, databases and other sources
* Numerate with a high standard of oral and written communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
* Ability to work independently and with a team
* Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels
* Excellent ambassador for Risk and Compliance
* Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
