Digital and Technology Services Programme and Project Officer - Ref: RT08224
£34,834 - £39,186 per annum (pay award pending, plus excellent employee benefits)
Offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract for external applicants or as a secondment opportunity for internal applicants
Walsall Council is transforming how it works. Developing technologies, customer expectations and external budget pressures mean we need to modernise and rethink how we deliver our services.
We are recruiting a Digital and Technology Services (DaTS) Programme and Project Officer to join our DaTS Programme Management Office (PMO) Team. You will be tasked with providing the PMO function, whilst also delivering small/medium projects and services to ensure Walsall Council continues to have a digital infrastructure fit for the future.
Working as a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the successful design, planning and delivery of council wide technology, through small/medium projects. You will manage regular reviews of the business case, project initiation document and other key governance deliverables as well as benefits realisation that provide efficiencies and savings.
You will ensure alignment of deliverables for projects with agreed plans and milestones to ensure project deliverables are achieved within time, cost and quality criteria, whilst managing project risks and issues. You will capture, track and monitor dependencies against other portfolios, programmes and projects and also the wider corporate transformation programme initiatives.
We value collaboration and innovation, and we foster a supportive and inclusive working environment where everyone can thrive. By joining our team, you will be part of a forward-thinking council dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of our residents.
Walsall Council is changing its approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and is actively encouraging applicants from diverse and often under-represented groups that reflect the communities we serve. If you feel you belong to one of these groups and have the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience, we would love to hear from you.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, particularly within digital and technology services. You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in a public sector setting is desirable but not essential.
If you have a passion for digital transformation and are eager to contribute to the continuous improvement of our services, we encourage you to apply. Join us in shaping the future of Walsall Council and making a tangible difference in our community.
If you are ready for your next challenge, we’re ready to hear from you!
