Job Description:
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join our senior management team as Group Head of Health and Safety, helping shape this function across our hotel group.
The Brownsword Group have created arguably the most iconic collection of historic countryside and city centre hotels, all wonderful properties set within beautiful grounds and cities, all with their own stories to share. Generosity, quality and welcoming hospitality is what they do very well. Being exceptional hoteliers has been the core of the operation, creating a successful hospitality business.
Location: This role is based from our central office in the beautiful heritage city of Bath, where you would work from 1-2 days per week. Outside of those days, regular travel to our hotels will be a key part of this position (you will need your own transport for travel, as some of our locations are in stunning, but remote locations). We will of course cover your travel expenses and you can stay at the properties you visit if needed.
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday.
Role: Reporting to the CEO, the role will have wide ranging responsibilities that require an experienced expert with a proven track record in successful multi-site leadership, in all areas of health and safety management, ideally within a hospitality setting. This role will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership of health and safety management for our group of 13 hotels across the UK, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and quality. This includes supporting the General Managers and senior central managers to have effective and planned health and safety programs in place in all areas of our properties.
Some key info about the role:
* Provide day to day leadership on all areas of health and safety in our business
* Act as the central support function for health and safety across our group of hotels
* Write and review the company health and safety/ food safety policies
* Actively manage food safety practices, including allergens, across the business
* Manage all legal and compliance areas of Health and Safety, including working with our insurers when needed
* Manage our Compliance platform, Riskproof, making sure it is up to date and accurate at all times
* Work with our Maintenance teams to ensure we are fully compliant in all areas
* Be knowledgeable and qualified whilst being practically minded
* Help to ensure that all the team are committed to and engaged with health and safety
* Hold a recognised health and safety/ food safety qualification
* Be confident and capable to train and coach senior and junior managers in health and food safety
* Have the ability to deliver accredited Health and Safety training to key personnel in our business e.g. Highfield qualifications
* Be able to work with and manage our external health and safety suppliers
* Have previous experience in a health and safety/ food safety role within hospitality
* Be happy to travel for work on a regular basis across the UK, with frequent overnight trips (in our lovely hotel collection!)
To say thank you, we have many perks:
* Great salary - we'll chat about this more during the recruitment process
* Central Support Management Bonus Scheme
* Private Pension and Healthcare
* Working from a newly developed office in Central Bath
* Treat yourself once in a while with lots of retail and hospitality perks through our Perkbox platform.
* Excellent discounts across our family of hotels – you will be entitled to 25% off food & beverage in our hotels plus we offer an amazing staff rate of £25 B&B per person across the group & your friends and family get special rates too.
* We understand it’s OK not to be OK, so we offer an externally run confidential helpline for any support you require about anything you might need as part of our Employee Assistance Programme.
* Bespoke Continual Professional Development Days to make sure you can always learn and develop.
* We provide lots of opportunities for you to develop yourself and your own specific skillset, in your own time.
* We like to say a special thank you for every year you are with us - our milestone awards include Champagne, afternoon tea, or dinner for you and someone special. When you reach the big milestones, you receive extra special gifts on top like longer hotel stays, extra days off and a unique gift especially chosen for you.
