The Vacancy
WGM have an excellent opportunity for a buyer to join the business in a hybrid working capacity based within our Glasgow office, this is an excellent opportunity to join the business as we enter a period of extensive growth. The overall purpose of the role will involve assisting the Procurement team by ensuring the delivery of all purchasing requirements are made on-time and in full across all business streams to fully satisfy customer requirements. You will work with existing and new suppliers to continually develop and improve supply chain flexibility and performance whilst adhering to client regulations. Reporting to the Procurement Category Manager.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Support delivery of WGM output and margin expectations through the procurement of goods and/or services through best practice.
2. Deliver all performance targets for core external suppliers.
3. Build and maintain effective relationships with clients internally and externally.
4. Deliver cost and improvement initiatives where possible and continually striving towards more efficient and smarter ways of working.
5. Promote best practice Procedures to stakeholders throughout the business.
6. Produce and maintain supplier development plans including performance targets.
7. Increase core competency rating as per training matrix.
8. Understand the needs of the internal & external customer. Acting and providing solutions to prevent future problems arising.
9. Assume end to end procurement responsibility to meet and exceed customer expectations focusing on quality, delivery on-time and ensuring value for money giving WGM the competitive edge.
10. Provide and maintain accurate pricing tools and MOU's (memorandum of understanding) for core suppliers.
11. Maintain supplier performance process for core suppliers.
12. Industry and market feedback, advising the business of new innovations, products and services that are available.
13. Dealing with queries from both internal and external parties.
14. Manage safety in-line with company policies.
To be considered for this position you will have at least 1-2 years previous experience within a similar procurement or buyer role ideally within an engineering or construction environment. You will be proficient in various Microsoft office platforms. The ideal candidate will be a team player and be able to operate on your own without supervision. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and have an excellent understanding of supply train processes and procedures. A UK driver license is not essential but desirable for the position.
