Job Title: Maintenance Compliance Engineer

Our client, a leading Food Manufacturing business, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer or Engineering Supervisor to join their team as a Technical Compliance Engineer. This is a key role for the business and will involve working closely with the Engineering Manager and Senior Management team. Job Purpose:
The job holder is responsible for site compliance against engineering standards and external legislation. The role includes driving remedials following internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities include:
1. Day-to-day support of the engineering department when production operations are hindered.
2. Carrying out Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Installation, and Modifications to site-based Assets to the designed specification.
3. Providing proactive line support as required, with potential to cover shifts during periods of abnormal absence.
4. Contractor Control and upkeep of the Approved Contractor System.
5. Providing breakdown cover during periods of high maintenance activities.
6. Raising Purchase Orders, receipting of goods, and handling invoice queries.
7. Management and support for all customer-based audits.
8. Management of the Five Life-Saving Principle Audit and Actions (LOTO, Confined Space, Working at Height, Electrical Works, Workplace Transport).
9. Management and control of GMP, SHE, Fire Risk actions for all internal audits.
10. Providing project support through close collaboration with the Project Engineer.
11. Completing work records, reports, and associated data to ensure effective channels of communication are maintained.
12. Feeding into the annual capital plan detailing site requirements and providing rough orders of magnitude.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Minimum apprentice trained or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
2. Background in a manufacturing/factory-based Maintenance environment, preferably within FMCG or Food, in either a hands-on Engineer or supervisory capacity.
3. Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in a manufacturing setting.
4. Experience in managing projects.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
6. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
7. Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks.
8. Good HSE appreciation.
9. Ideally, some exposure to Contractor control.
