We rely on our Project Managers to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of critical projects within the Procurement team. You will work closely with various business-wide stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget whilst providing regular project progress updates and wider communications. Working in one of our central support functions, you’ll be part of a team where everyone is putting the effort in to offer brilliant customer service and to get the job done.
Here’s a quick overview of some of the things you can expect to do as a Project Manager with Huws Gray:
* Proactive co-ordination of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring all are clearly defined, planned, and implemented according to agreed timelines, scope, and budget.
* Engage and facilitate appropriate communications with cross-functional teams to ensure all project requirements and expectations are understood and met.
* Identify project risks and issues, developing and agreeing mitigation actions throughout.
* Monitor and regularly report progress to procurement team, key stakeholders and senior leadership team, highlighting risk and deviation to agreed plans.
* Review and recommend process and system improvements to drive efficiency within the business.
* Ensure all projects adhere to internal policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements relevant to the builders’ merchant sector.
* Evaluate project upon completion (where applicable), reviewing performance and lessons learned to support recommendations for future projects.

* Proven Project Management experience of at least 3-5 years, ideally within a retail, construction, or builders’ merchants environment.
* Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders across different business units.
* Experience with Project Management tools: Proficient in using industry recognised methodologies for planning and execution.
* Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate complex information to stakeholders at all levels, both written and verbal.
* Financial Acumen: Experience in managing project budgets and financial reporting.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive in identifying issues, troubleshooting, and providing solutions.
* Time Management and Organisation: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritising tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
* Systems: Familiarity with project management software (e.g. Smartsheet, MS Project, Monday.com or similar) and general IT systems within a retail or supply chain setting.
There is flexibility in the base location of the role, however the majority of the team are based in Pampisford, Cambridge so ideally you will be able to work from this office location a couple of days a week.
