Mechanical Engineering Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship, Stevenage This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join an accredited Mechanical Engineering scheme that has developed some of the leading engineering apprentices in the UK. We offer a four-year programme aligned with the Institute for Apprenticeships Engineering manufacturing technician Level 4 standard, during which you will complete an HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering. As a Mechanical Engineering apprentice, your workplace placement plan will be designed to best prepare you for graduation into the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Function. ME is involved in all aspects of a products life-cycle; from early development and research, through to in service support. This opportunity will give you the skills required to design, make, and test the next generation of missile system hardware. The Opportunity This programme will teach you to use industry standard engineering software packages such as Creo Parametric, Altair HyperMesh, and Ansys. We will help you learn key engineering design and analysis skills such as calculation of mass properties, limits and fits and understanding of material properties and selection process. You’ll see first-hand the application of structural and dynamic analysis techniques learned during your academic studies from experienced colleagues. You’ll develop the skills required to work as part of a multi-functional project team and you’ll regularly work with colleagues from Electronic & Environmental engineering. This is a great opportunity to work with innovative technologies which also opens up many opportunities for progression after your apprenticeship - such as: people manager, technical specialist, project manager, and beyond. We will help you to achieve Professional accreditation through the IMechE/IET/RAeS. Programme Structure For the four years you will be on day release at Cambridge Regional College with your remaining time spent on placements, typically lasting three months. Some placements may be longer to develop specific ME skills. The rotational placements and experiences you will gain on this scheme have been tailored to give you the skills required to become an engineer within the Mechanical Engineering Function. Placements may include: Mechanical Design Mechanical Analysis Materials and Processes Design Definition Office Configuration management Environmental Engineering & Facilities Industry Policy Supply Chain and Procurement This apprenticeship will see individuals both working with and studying Maths based principles and practices and is therefore suited to those that enjoy Maths and its practical application. Entry Criteria This role has specific qualification level and subject criteria - please make sure you carefully check your eligibility against this criteria as we cannot consider applications from anyone that does not meet the following requirements: 5 x GCSE qualifications at Grade 4 - 9, to include Maths at Grade 5/6 (B), English language and a Science, technology or Engineering related subject. In addition to: 96 UCAS points through A level qualifications, minimum C for each subject, to include Maths. OR 96 UCAS points through a single 90 credit Engineering BTEC Level 3 Diploma (MMM) PLUS Further Mechanical or Further Electrical Principles. OR 96 UCAS points through a full T level qualification at Pass (with a minimum C or above on the core) This apprenticeship will see individuals both working with and studying Maths based principles and practices and is therefore suited to those that enjoy Maths and its practical application.
