Job description
The Role
As an Infrastructure Field Engineer at MI5, youll support your team to retrieve data from large and complex networks. This will include assisting your colleagues with the design and implementation of bespoke solutions so we can continue to grow our operations. Day to day, this could involve installing, configuring and managing remote infrastructure such as firewalls, routers, switches and servers, through to the administration of a multi-vendor environment. Youll also help us to maintain our ability to continuously deliver on a high volume of competing requirements from across mission areas and assisting the work of MI6 and GCHQ.
The team supports MI5s mission by designing, installing and maintaining solutions to gather intelligence against the organisations most technically aware target sets. This means youll be working across several exciting areas as part of a growing team, so being able to build strong relationships across our agencies, and with external partners, is integral.
While your main focus will involve team projects, youll also get the chance to take on individual technical project work of interest, as long as it directly relates to your teams remit. Upon completion of all relevant training, youll have the opportunity to join an on-call rota. There is also regular work outside of core hours, including weekends and evenings which can be claimed as overtime or taken as time off in lieu. This work is optional.
