Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Science Technician to work within a large Science department. You will work alongside an experienced technician with extensive knowledge of health and safety, in what inspectors called “the best prep room in the Walsall borough”. The ideal candidate will show good initiative and the ability to follow procedures.
Main Duties
1. Keeping up to date with the latest health and safety guidance, legal requirements, and good practice.
2. Advising teachers on health and safety, practical techniques, experiment suitability, chemicals, and safer alternatives.
3. Helping and advising pupils with investigations and projects.
4. Researching and trialing equipment and experiments for improved results and safety, including contacting CLEAPSS for safer alternatives.
5. Maintaining inventories and stock lists.
6. Ensuring equipment and materials are safe and in good condition, including mandatory checks.
7. Securing hazardous materials and checking stock.
8. Willingness to be a First Aider and undertake relevant training.
