Job summary An exciting opportunity for a band 6 permanent post has risen on Hawthorn ward. Hawthorn is a 28 bedded ward with dynamic and supportive working environment with team who works collaboratively to support our patients. Main duties of the job To deputises the ward manager by demonstrating compassionate leadership, in leading the ward to exceptional and maintaining high standard of care to our patients. To manage, mentor and support in developing junior staff to ensure that nursing practice and procedures conform to identified NMC and Trust policies and standards. To be a role model for all staff and ensure that the ward environment is a safe and effective learning area for staff and student nurses. To support in providing direct education and training needs of the nursing team to enable the provision of a patient focused, evidence / research based nursing service. To be responsible for making the patient the focus of care within the ward environment. To demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills, be self-motivated and flexible. To show an adaptable and positive approach to implementing change in conjunction with evidence-based practice and national guidelines. Demonstrate effective communication skills.
