Our client is a well-established developer of advanced engineering solutions including Aerospace and Automotive. Due to recent growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience of designing bespoke solutions for a systems integrator.
The Role
Provide design and project support, within a multi-disciplinary Engineering team. Responsible for providing engineering support at all stages of the process from initial requirements capture and proposal preparation, through detail design to manufacture and acceptance.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering support at all stages of the design process from initial requirements capture and proposal preparation, through detail design to manufacture and acceptance within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, including but not limited to:
Ensuring adherence to the engineering process whilst meeting timescale requirements
Developing optimised product designs in terms of cost, weight and robustness by challenging existing designs and offering new ideas
Delivering high quality manufacturing data packages by producing tolerance analysis and manufacturing drawings
Ensuring the product design is complete in terms of addressing all robustness and in-service requirements as well as customer and regulatory authority requirements
Being involved in Risk Analysis activities, the identification of risk and agreement on the method of mitigation (analysis, test comparison etc.)
Responsible within the multi-disciplinary engineering team for ensuring that engineering procedures and work instructions are implemented in a consistent and rigorous way
Responsible for approving design engineering documentation for which authorisation to approve has been granted
Perform structural static and dynamic analyses
Attend worldwide client locations for installation and commissioning purposes.
Being involved in problem solving activities throughout the manufacturing, acceptance and ‘in service’ phases of a project
Provide engineering support and direction for junior designers, graduate recruits, student placements and students on work experience within the multi-disciplinary engineering project team
The Candidate
Degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent is preferred
3D design experience - ideally with Inventor or Solidworks
FEA analysis experience
Static & dynamic analysis experience
Linear and non-linear techniques
Design engineering background with knowledge of machine design, electro hydraulic and/or electro-mechanical equipment product configurations
Presentation skills
Desire for continuous improvement
Able to inspire small teams with the ability to coach and mentor others
Operates with the highest level of personal integrity
Willingness to travel internationally
The Package
Offering up to £60,000 per annum plus an extremely competitive benefits package including bonus
