Our Tree Cutting Machine Operator position offers an exciting opportunity to join a skilled team ensuring the safety and reliability of the SSEN Transmission network. You'll operate and maintain mini harvesting machinery (Alstor 850) to support the Vegetation Management team in network maintenance and resilience efforts. Due to the needs of this role, a full, current driving licence is essential along with trailer towing, categories B C. You will - Work within a highly skilled team involved in all aspects of vegetation management around our substations, Transmission assets, overhead and underground networks. - Be responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of an Alstor 850 mini forwarding/harvesting machine ensuring all work requirements are conducted safely, efficiently, and effectively to meet delivery targets. - Assist the wider team conducting other vegetation management activities. - Understand the relevant industry legislation and safety guidelines associated with conducting forestry or arboricultural work within the proximity of power lines. - Be involved with both internal and external tree cutting teams to ensure work is completed to a high standard. You have - Previous experience in operating vegetation management machinery or similar would be advantageous although full training would be provided. - Experience in tree cutting or similar industry with some relevant NPTC qualifications for chainsaw work would be beneficial, however not essential as training would be provided. - High regard for safety, embedding yourself in our safety culture and adhering to guidelines in everything you do is a key priority. - Effective communication, customer relationship skills and a commitment to always providing a high-level service. - Must be willing to travel and regularly stay away from home for short periods as the machine will be utilised across the whole SSEN north area.
