Band 6 to 7 Rotational Clinical Pharmacist
Rotational Clinical Pharmacist - Band 6 to 7 - Full-time + EDC
We are currently seeking a Band 6 clinical rotational pharmacist to join our dynamic and well-motivated team.
As a rotational pharmacist, you'll work across several different rotations:
* Elderly Care
* Stroke
* Surgery
* Acute medicine (AMU, ED)
* Technical services/aseptics
* Paediatrics and Maternity
* GP/ICN rotation
Each rotation has been designed to develop your clinical and personal skills to help prepare you for your next role as a specialist clinical pharmacist. The rotations are structured in line with the JPB core areas of Clinical, Technical and Patient Services and Medicines Information. This will provide you with the knowledge and experience required to be a well-rounded and capable pharmacist.
The role gives you the opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team where you can provide support for service development through projects, audits, and education. You will be able to learn from specialist pharmacists in each rotation to improve your knowledge and attain the required skills for your personal development.
You will be involved in the education and training of Brighton Undergraduates and vocational students, thus giving you the opportunity to experience leading supervision and management with the aim of developing these skills to help you grow in your pharmacy career.
Main duties of the job
A typical day as a Band 6 Pharmacist includes a full range of clinical and operational tasks, from completing drug histories and medicines reconciliations to counselling and processing discharge prescriptions on the wards. You will be given the autonomy to balance your time between these tasks and other responsibilities, such as working objectives and project work (audits, etc.). The majority of your day will be spent on clinical commitments, as our dispensary is technician-led. You will be provided with a strong and structured support system to focus your learning and development within each rotation.
Working closely with a large multidisciplinary team (consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, discharge team members, etc.), you will provide safe and effective patient care through ward rounds, huddles, and MDT meetings. You will also have opportunities to develop leadership and interpersonal skills (e.g., providing feedback, appraisal techniques, professionalism, assertiveness, communication, etc.) through teaching tutorials for trainee pharmacists, nurses, and medical students. You will also be involved in the education and training of undergraduate pharmacy students as well as medical students.
You will be part of a rotating role that involves both on-site and cross-sector work, including providing pharmacy services to local GP practices and virtual wards within the Integrated Care Network team.
About us
Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon. The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. Around 4,100 staff provide services for a population of over 360,000 people who are relatively young with a high level of ethnic diversity.
Our main hospital site, Croydon University Hospital, is one of the busiest in London. We're also leading the way in providing more healthcare outside hospitals at clinics, specialist centres, and in people's homes. Our experienced district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals, and community matrons look after people of all ages across Croydon, and our Children's Hospital at Home cares for children with long-term conditions without them having to come to the hospital.
Across the NHS, everyone is working hard to meet growing demand, and we're no exception. But with the right people on board, we are rising to this challenge, putting our people in the driving seat, encouraging innovation, and transforming our services to give local people the quality of care they deserve. Croydon Health Services puts a great deal of importance on education and training throughout the careers of all of our staff, offering access to a range of core skills training and professional development.
