Our client in the education sector is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager with superb leadership skills to join their large team on a long term FTC basis until September 2026. As Senior Payroll Manager, you will report into the Director of HR and oversee a team of ten in total, with support of 2 payroll supervisors. Responsibilities include: Day to day management of the payroll team ensuring accurate and timely processing of 2x inhouse payrolls on a monthly basis Identify, recommend and implement measures of continuous improvement Be the University's payroll Subject Matter Expert in the operation of the payroll service Carry out accurate and timely reporting to HMRC specifically the statutory mont Accountability of the outsourced Payroll Responsible for Payroll systems improvements and changes (in the current HR system) Training and development of the Payroll Manager and Supervisors, Responsible for user acceptance testing of bespoke and larger-scope system releases and upgrades Experience required: Excellent people management & leadership skills Experience of managing, motivating and developing staff Exemplary UK payroll knowledge Sound knowledge of occupational sickness, maternity and paternity schemes and their application.
