The role
of Injury Management Advisor is paramount to ensure the quality of the decision making process within claims management, and promoting consistency in approach and compliance to legislation. You will be responsible to provide clinical and injury management technical expertise to assess personal injury claims for reasonable and appropriate / necessary treatment and rehabilitation requirements and enable the department to achieve claims management objectives.
This role will also see you contribute to and drive proactive claims management across the Statutory division through early identification and management of rehabilitation needs, applying evidence based injury management principles, ensuring cost effective intervention is provided in a timely manner and influencing effective claims strategy within the claims team. This role is also accountable for the Coaching and mentoring of Claim Advisors, to ensure a sound understanding of Injury management is applied when making decisions and to assist the development of legislative and regulatory knowledge and skills. You will maintain a constant customer focus by working with customers, team members and third parties to find solutions consistent with their needs and the business objectives as well as resolve complaints in a timely manner.
What you’ll do (not limited to):
1. Review claim files and provide subject matter expertise to claims handlers – including interpreting medical reports, providing injury management advice and determining rehabilitation and treatment requirements
2. Prepare professional written and verbal advice to claims handlers on reasonable and appropriate / necessary treatment and rehabilitation services and recommendations for future rehabilitation management
3. Provide consistent injury management expertise and support to ensure ongoing quality decisions and provide input into claims strategy
4. Work within the designated Delegation of Authority
5. Engage and negotiate with Service Providers, Claimants, Solicitors and claims staff.
What you will bring:
6. Degree in Allied Health related discipline is mandatory
7. Minimum 2 years clinical experience and
8. Minimum 2 years Workers Compensation/ CTP Experience - Desired
9. Minimum 2 years Occupational Rehabilitation experience (desired for Workers Compensation)
10. Ability to identify developmental needs of team members and recommend training activities to achieve positive outcomes.
