Job Title: Vehicle Builder
Location: Bishopbriggs, Glasgow (Cadder Depot)
Duration: 12 months +
Pay Rate: £28 Umbrella or £21.70 PAYE
We are currently recruiting for a Vehicle Builder for a 12 month + contract based in Glasgow.
Candidates MUST have rail/locomotive experience.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Main duties involve panel modifications to make them fit better or cutting out access hatches.
2. Flooring work involved.
3. Sliding door rebuild.
4. Working with the Project Management team on site or at depots to deliver projects within the budget and on time.
5. Ensure that all materials/parts, drawings, tooling, fixtures, test equipment are fit for purpose & available prior to commencement of a job.
6. Ensure that investigations and reports on failed/defective components are carried out in line with policies & procedures in a timely manner.
7. First line dealing with complaints made by customers, stepping in and supporting as necessary, escalating at the earliest opportunity as required via PSE Co-ordinator or Operations Manager.
8. Maintain positive working relationships with current and potential customers in such a manner as to maintain the reputation of the company as a world class supplier of railway equipment and systems.
9. Identify opportunities for improvement during delivery of Service Support work (increased efficiency, decrease throughput time, elimination of waste, etc.) and raise to PSE Co-ordinator or Operations Manager.
10. Implement & participate in 5S methodology wherever possible during on/off-site operations (e.g. customer location work areas, stores and company vans) in conjunction with PSE Co-ordinator and Lead Project Manager as required.
11. Actively participate in group deployment of improvement initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
1. Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
2. Outstanding technical attributes & an aptitude for fault finding.
3. Significant technical ability in area of expertise (relating to our products).
4. Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
5. Ability to train others.
6. Sound IT skills (particularly MS Excel and Laptop/Tablet computers).
7. Ability to compile technical reports.
8. Ability to efficiently organise own workload.
9. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
