Exam Invigilator Part time, various hours per week £12.21 per hour Burton on Trent, Town Centre Campus and Stephen Burke Construction Academy, Swadlincote Who are we looking for? We’re looking to expand our pool of casual Exam Invigilators to support the smooth running of exams across the academic year. This is an ad-hoc role, ideal for candidates who are flexible, reliable, and available during weekdays. Exams take place throughout the year between 09:00 and, occasionally, as late as 21:00. Most exams last between 1 and 3.5 hours and are held under various awarding bodies. While the work is casual, we’re looking for people who can offer regular availability - not only for invigilation but also to support administrative tasks within our Exams and Data teams when needed. The role can be varied and in high demand, often involving reading or scribing for learners who require additional support. Exams are held at both our Burton Town Centre campus and the Steven Burke Construction Academy in Swadlincote, so you’ll need to be willing and able to travel to either site. We’re looking for calm, adaptable individuals who are confident working with post-16 and adult learners. A basic level of IT competency is essential, as you’ll be expected to support computer-based exams when required. Full training will be provided, including opportunities to shadow experienced invigilators. You’ll be paid for the duration of each exam plus 30 minutes beforehand to allow time for setup and preparation. Applicants should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
