Job Purpose:
The Logistics Manager shall be responsible for coordination and management of the movement of all project materials from the UK port of entry to the construction site. This shall be carried out by logistics providers in the UK, and contract management experience will be required. The Logistics Lead will also be responsible for the overarching logistics strategy for the project, managing the global IFF-led delivery of all equipment from Vendor to UK port of entry. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
The ideal candidate for the manager role will have good experience in the UK logistics sector, particularly around receiving international goods and the movement of Abnormal Loads. The candidate will be a logical thinker with the capability to quickly analyze a problem and deliver a practical solution. The candidate will have the ability to pick up new concepts rapidly and work both independently and collaboratively.
The ideal candidate for the Lead will have extensive experience in global logistics and management of IFFs. The candidate will have a firm grasp of global best practices and experience in implementing the same.
Requirements:
The responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
Manager:
* Take the lead in letting and management of all logistics-related contracts in the UK (with support of the Commercial team)
* Coordination with international freight forwarder(s) (IFF) for arrival in UK port of entry
o Berthing arrangements
o Offloading
o Movement to suitable storage
o Management of customs clearance
* Coordination with UK logistics contractors, site Project Construction team, and site Construction contractors to ensure prompt and timely delivery of required equipment
o Provision of any required documentation for movement orders, etc.
* Arrangement for all temporary storage (not including site laydown)
o Covered, climate-controlled
o Open, secure
o COMAH
* Where necessary, any intermediate storage or processing
* Interface and coordination with HVP QAQC and other functions to ensure preservation and storage requirements are being met
Key skills and experience:
Essential:
* 5-10 years of experience in logistics, including imports and abnormal loads movement, delivery for construction
* Strong understanding of industry codes and standards, legal requirements
* Experience in contract management
* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
* Willingness to work on-site in a construction and commissioning environment
* Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting
* An understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and standards
* Strong safety awareness and the ability to drive the correct safety culture in others
* Confidence to challenge established practices, suggesting imaginative solutions to problems
* Excellent people skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders
* Ability to deliver the role whilst demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and prominent levels of self-motivation and enthusiasm
* Ability to build rapport quickly and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Able to identify and analyze situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data, and drawing appropriate conclusions
* A willingness to travel to project sites, other Highview offices, and vendor works
Desirable:
* Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with vendors
* Chartered (CILT or equivalent)
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar
