Main duties of the job
1. Specialised Clinical Pharmacy Service: Deliver a specialised, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to adult and paediatric oncology and haematology patients. Actively contribute to the multidisciplinary team by providing ward-based pharmacy services and key input during clinician ward rounds, clinics, and meetings.
2. Expert Clinical Advice: Serve as a clinical role model, offering highly complex expert advice on the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of oncology and haematology medicines, in line with Trust and National Guidelines.
3. Service Development and Prescribing: Expand the role of the Cancer Pharmacy Team to meet directorate requirements, practicing as a pharmacist non-medical prescriber to support chemotherapy and associated medications within the Day Therapy Unit.
4. Service Improvement: Lead and support changes in work practices within Cancer Services, fostering good working relationships and implementing innovative solutions to enhance safety and quality in the service.
5. Clinical Governance and Medicines Management: Participate in the planning, implementation, communication, and delivery of clinical governance and medicines management objectives for the Trust. Effectively communicate highly complex and sensitive information with tact and diplomacy.
6. Team Leadership and Supervision: Provide day-to-day clinical supervision and management of Cancer Pharmacists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.

Our department is equipped with two robotic storage and dispensing systems and has implemented electronic prescribing for outpatient and chemotherapy clinics, supporting efficiency and safety in medicines management.

We are seeking a dedicated candidate who can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate staff supervisory experience, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Cancer Pharmacy Service. This includes liaising closely with the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit to ensure seamless service delivery. Job responsibilities
1. To deputise and support the Lead Pharmacist in Cancer Services in developing, monitoring and delivering a highly specialist and comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to Oncology and Haematology.
2. To act as an Advanced Practitioner Clinical Pharmacist to Oncology and Haematology.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* CPD in line with GPhC recommendations
* Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
* Non-medical prescribing qualification (or ability to complete within 6 months of starting post)
Experience
* Considerable experience in a clinical oncology/haematology pharmacy position
* Staff supervisory experience
* Evidence of implementing change
* Experience within Aseptic Services and Good Manufacturing Practice
* Experience within clinical trials and Good Clinical Practice
* Experience of delivering training to a multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of managing a changing situation
Knowledge and Skills
* Advanced cancer clinical knowledge
* Able to prioritise on workload, delegate appropriately and manage time effectively
* Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to communicate highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, including in distressing or emotional situations
* Experience of producing Trust/network wide guidelines and/or policy documents
* Experience of delivering projects and working to deadlines
* Ability to analyse and interpret complex drug usage and expenditure
* Good negotiation and presentation skills
