The project: Supporting an ongoing multi-£m automotive and advanced technology facility build you will work within the consulting team providing strategic cost management services to the client.
Responsibilities:
1. Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
2. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
3. Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
4. Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
5. Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
6. Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
7. Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
8. Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
2. Previous experience working within automotive or manufacturing and technology builds.
3. JCT form of contract experience essential with some knowledge of NEC.
4. Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
5. A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.
6. Knowledge of BIM techniques and applications.
7. Proven experience in areas such as risk management and change control management.
8. Professional membership or working towards i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent).
9. Proficient knowledge and expertise in specific sector/ market of project/role.
10. Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration and contract management.
11. Detailed knowledge of various forms of contract.
12. Capex vs opex cost analysis/advice.
13. Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
You'll also have:
1. Ability to be effective communicator with all stakeholders.
2. Ability to seek opportunities for implementing improved working practices.
3. Good interpersonal skills to prepare reports, negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.
4. Problem solving and analytical skills for resolving cost and contract administration and procurement issues.
5. Understanding of present-day issues such as sustainability, social value and carbon reduction.
