Interim Treasury Management/ VAT Specialist - Local Government

Contract length: 6-9 months

Day rate: Flexible, dependant on experience
Our local authority client is seeking interim support for key finance functions. They are open to one full-time candidate covering multiple areas or two part-time candidates specialising in Treasury Management or VAT. Candidates with financial closedown experience to support the Corporate Accountant would be an advantage.
Available Roles:
Treasury Management Specialist (Interim - 6 to 9 months)
We are looking for an experienced professional with several years of local authority experience to:
1. Advise on investments in line with the Treasury Management Strategy.
2. Conduct due diligence and liaise with Treasury Advisors.
3. Write Treasury reports for Audit & Governance Committees and the Board.
4. Oversee cashflow management and set up investments with MMFs and other local authorities.
VAT Specialist (Interim - 6 to 9 months)
An experienced VAT professional with local authority experience who can:
1. Implement Making Tax Digital processes.
2. Lead on VAT return preparation and submission (initially without MTD software).
3. Provide expert VAT advice and establish long-term compliance processes.
Essential experience:
1. Proven expertise in Treasury Management or VAT within local government.
2. Financial year end closedown experience within a local authority.
3. Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to work autonomously.
4. Ability to liaise with key stakeholders and provide strategic financial insights.
5. Available for an immediate or short notice start.
