Accounts Assistant – Accountancy Practice

A respected and growing accountancy firm is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the team in delivering exceptional client service across a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporting client bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations and invoice processing
Assisting with VAT returns and payroll processing, ensuring timely submissions to HMRC
Helping to prepare self-assessment tax returns and general accounts production
Managing day-to-day queries from clients with professionalism and accuracy
Completing a range of administrative duties, including filing and database updates
Identifying opportunities for referrals across the wider business network
Communicating regularly with senior team members on client work status
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 1 year of experience in an accountancy practice environment
AAT Level 2 or 3 qualification (or working towards it) is desirable
Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Strong organisational and communication skills
A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working under pressure
