Job Specification: Business Architect - Underwriting Workbench Programme
Location: London (Hybrid Working Model)
Duration: 6 months (initial contract, outside IR35)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Architect to join a leading London Markets insurer on a strategic programme to deliver a cutting-edge underwriting workbench. This is an outside IR35 role, providing a unique opportunity to work on a high-profile initiative, bridging the gap between business and technical teams to ensure successful delivery of programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business-Technology Alignment:
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that design and development decisions align with business objectives and priorities.
Translate complex business requirements into architectural designs and actionable deliverables.
Solution Design and Impact Analysis:
Collaborate with technical architects to ensure the underwriting workbench aligns with overarching enterprise architecture.
Assess downstream impacts of proposed changes to ensure seamless integration across systems and processes.
Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with the Programme Manager and Product Owner to define and deliver programme outcomes.
Communicate effectively with underwriting teams, business leaders, and IT stakeholders to address needs and expectations.
Governance and Assurance:
Ensure architectural decisions are well-documented, and the solution adheres to compliance, operational, and risk standards within the London Markets insurance sector.
Support governance processes, providing clarity and insight into decision-making.
Change Enablement and Adoption:
Contribute to business readiness by ensuring designs consider operational workflows and end-user impacts.
Advocate for effective training, user engagement, and smooth adoption of the new underwriting workbench.Key Skills & Experience
Insurance Industry Expertise:
In-depth understanding of the London Markets insurance environment, underwriting workflows, and operational challenges.
Business Architecture:
Proven experience in developing and implementing business architecture within complex programmes.
Strong skills in process mapping, requirements elicitation, and strategic solution design.
Technical Knowledge:
Awareness of technical architecture and system integration within insurance or financial services.
Ability to work effectively alongside technical teams to shape and validate solutions.
Programme Delivery:
Experience collaborating with Programme Managers, Product Owners, and delivery teams in Agile and hybrid environments.
Analytical Thinking & Communication:
Strong analytical skills to evaluate business needs and assess the downstream impacts of changes.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering underwriting workbenches or similar platforms in the London Markets.
Familiarity with industry standards such as ACORD messaging.
Certifications in Business Architecture, such as TOGAF or BCS Business Architecture, are a plus.How to Apply
