Deputy Lead for Mental Health and Learning Disability

The post holder will provide a Trust wide overview of all Mental Health and Dementia matters, co-ordinating all issues and processes concerning this agenda.
The post holder will support the professional development of Registered Mental Health Nurses in the Trust.
The post holder will provide specialist advice within the Trust relating to Mental Health.
The post holder will support multi-agency working for the Trust.
The post holder will assist the Lead for Mental Health and Learning Disability in meeting its statutory duties and responsibilities relating to the Mental Health Act & Mental Capacity Act.
The post holder will deliver training packages required to support the Mental Health & Dementia agendas.
The post holder will deputise for the Lead for Mental Health & Learning disabilities.
Main duties of the job
1. Attend and be an active member of Trust meetings and working groups in relation to Mental Health & Learning Disability matters.
2. Contribute to the annual report relating to Mental Health & Dementia within the Trust.
3. Contribute to quarterly performance reports.
4. Be an active member of Mental Health & Dementia strategy meetings, supporting Trust staff and ensuring required action plans are developed.
5. Support the Lead for Mental Health and Learning disabilities in interpreting national and local policy and best practice and advise the Trust accordingly.
6. Ensure that staff within the clinical areas have access to and are aware of the most recent national and local policies which impact and affect the delivery of nursing/midwifery care.
7. Provide a visible presence in clinical areas acting as a resource and supporting the identification and management of Mental Health & Dementia issues.
8. Contribute to new policies and standard operating procedures relevant to their sphere of working and share practice across the Trust.
9. Ensure ongoing monitoring, evaluation and review of Mental Health & Dementia operational arrangements within the Trust.
10. Provide training on issues relating to Mental Health & Dementia.
11. Accountable for own professional actions: not directly supervised. To provide leadership and champion Mental Health & Dementia within the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level/or relevant experience.
* Registered RMN/RLD
Experience
* Ability to work autonomously and be accountable for own actions.
* Ability to prioritise workload in response to service need.
* Broad experience of project work and managing projects in a complex multi-system environment.
