The role: As a Plater, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working on a new class of Submarines, you will be responsible for using fabrication drawings to work within tight tolerances of the weapon systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll be working on the shop floor using your fabrication experience and knowledge to ensure smooth operations.
* Plating/Fabrication of large high strength, quenched and tempered Steel assemblies for the defence industry
* Fabrication of assemblies used for lifting and handling in the defence industry
* Flame cutting/profiling, rolling, press brake
* Fabrication from design drawing and CAD modelling
This position involves manual work, including lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Bristol.
Essential experience of the Plater:
* Time served apprenticeship or similar in welding/fabrication
* Working to high quality standards
* Capable of reading complex fabrication drawings
* Experience of fabrication/plating in the defence industry is desirable
Qualifications for the Plater:
* Lifting and Slinging experience and associated qualification (preferred)
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will be allowed to start on Standard (BPSS) but will need to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
