Job Title: Income Generation, Marketing and Publicity Officer
Salary: £11.50 per hour
Hours of Work: up to 10 hours per week part time with flexible working
Home and office (Wantage) based
Fixed term contract, details to be discussed
Responsible for: Income Generation (general and grants)
Reporting to: Operations Managers
About us:
We are an independent charity serving the Vale of White Horse District. The centre was founded in 1971, with a small group of volunteers providing information services and advice from a small office in Wantage Market Square. We remain in the heart of the local community and now, we not only cover advice, but we run a community transport scheme and a befriending service.
We currently have around 120 volunteers across the three services. We also have 13 volunteer trustees who form the Management Committee, four of whom are nominated representatives from various councils.
About the role:
As the majority of our income is from grants and fundraising, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated fundraiser with great people skills to action our grant requests and be instrumental in future fundraising activities. This role will require accuracy especially with grant applications, creativity, flexibility and the ability to develop high quality communications, in order to increase support for us.
The second part of the role will be to manage our publicity and marketing across a range of platforms, including the internet and social media.
The successful applicant will have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to work well on their own as well as part of the team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop and present short, medium and long term funding strategies
* Review existing and previous funders to assess potential for future collaboration
* Expand funding opportunities
* Generate income for the charity
* Submitting applications and fulfilling funders monitoring requirements
* Maintain our presence on social media
* Decide, design and manage press and publicity for our charity
Person Specification:
* Experience of making grant applications and major fundraising.
* Excellent written communication skills, ideally, you will have experience of making applications to trusts and grant giving bodies
* Ability to communicate with a variety of people in a friendly, professional and confident manner.
* Knowledge and experience of marketing communications
* Highly organised with an attention to detail
* Experience of managing multiple tasks to deadlines and prioritising own workload
* Proven ability in the use of a comprehensive range of IT software
* Working knowledge of social media platforms
* A positive approach to meeting the needs of our charity by working collaboratively and with enthusiasm
* Experience of the following: Fundraising Officer, Donor Management, Charities, Major Gifts, Donations
* Experience of creating marketing materials
* Background working with charities
* Full driving licence
* Knowledge of AI and how it can be used for processes, applications etc
